IMIS denies having offices, personnel in Nineveh
The Iran Militia in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) has denied having representatives or political, economic offices in Nineveh for more than a year ago.
The remarks came in the wake of accusations against involvement of IMIS in the sinking of Mosul ferry.
In remarks on Monday, Mohanad al-Iqabi, head of IMIS media department, said all of its political and military offices in the cities were closed more than a year ago and that IMIS has no soldiers in Nineveh.
He went on saying that IMIS personnel are deployed near the borders in Nineveh to repel actions by ISIS. He also said that all the headquarters in Nineveh as fake ones, adding that IMIS closed many offices before.
Last week, Gamal al-Karbouli, head of al-Hal party, blamed an economic committee affiliated to an armed faction that claims affiliation to IMIS, for the incident and called for holding it accountable.
