Hossein Saffar Harandi, Iranian former minister of culture and Islamic guidance, recommended working on replacing the presidential system in Iran with the parliamentary system, in accordance with recommendations of the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In an interview with Iranian TV on Sunday, Harandi said that President Hassan Rouhani's popularity has decreased by 10 percent, adding that it would be better for the country to be run by a prime minister elected by the parliament.

He added that the problem now is that the president-elect must be tolerated for at least four years, and often eight years, even if he has only very little achievement or if his popularity drops to less than 10 percent.
