Parliament speaker has said his country has irreversibly overcome political sectarianism.
In remarks after a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri in Baghdad on Wednesday, Mohamed al-Halbousi said Iraq seeks to play a role in unifying the Arab stances on joint causes in the international scene, especially the Palestinian issue.
“We are keen to unify the Arab position, especially on the joint issues of the [Arab] nation on international forums, especially regarding the Palestinian cause,” Halbusi said.
