Sisi meets Abd al-Mahdi, affirms Egypt’s full support to Iraqi gov’t

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday received a phone call from Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi, Egypt’s presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.

President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's full support to the Iraqi government and its continued efforts to develop bilateral relations in various fields, Egyptian state’s MENA reported.

He expressed Egypt's pride in its brotherly relations with Iraq, praising the continuous development witnessed by the cooperation frameworks between the two countries.

Abd al-Mahdi congratulated the Egyptian people on the success of referendum on the constitutional amendments, praising the positive developments witnessed by the country at all levels, especially economic and development areas over the past few years.

He expressed Iraq's appreciation to Egypt and President Sisi, in the framework of deeply-rooted relations between the two countries at the official and popular levels.

The phone talks also tackled ways to boost bilateral relations, as well as regional issues of common concern.
