Abd al-Mahdi orders paying salaries of 4 months to Peshmerga
Nasser Harki, parliament member of the Kurdistan
Democratic Party said on Wednesday that
Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi, who also serves as acting defense minister, issued
a decree ordering paying the salaries of four consecutive months to the
Peshmerga forces.
This comes after the Iraqi Ministry of
Defense had stopped a decision to pay the dues of the Peshmerga forces on the
pretext of the absence of data and information about these forces. However, Abd
al-Mahdi ordered paying them, Harki, who is a member of the parliament’s
security and defense committee said.
The decision means that each of the
Peshmerga forces included in the resolution will receive up to 816 billion
dinars, Harki said, adding that Abd al-Mahdi directed the Iraqi Ministry of
Finance to send the money to the Kurdistan Region.
