Baghdad, 11 April 2019 --- The World Health Organization (WHO) is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of its partners’ medical doctors working in Ninewa Governorate.

Dr. Saad Yassin Ali passed away while managing the health services delivered by the WHO supported mobile medical clinic based in Ba’aj area west the mentioned governorate on 7 April 2019.

WHO extends its condolences to the family and friends of the late doctor and would like to highlight the growing dangers and tremendous risks doctors, nurses and other health care workers continue to face on the line to providing lifesaving health care to those in need and those caught up in conflict and post-conflict settings.

WHO stresses the importance of ensuring the existence of safety measures for medical service delivery to eliminate risks and help medical staff meet the challenge of safeguarding health in hard to reach areas, displacement camps, and post-conflict zones.
