Newroz piroz be! Fireworks fill Erbil’s sky for the new year

Erbil filled the sky with fireworks, yari agrin in Kurdish (literally translated as fire play), for Newroz, the Kurdish new year.
Fireworks were set off Wednesday evening from the citadel, Shanadar Park, and the Empire compound on the western side of the city.
March 21 is Newroz, the start of the new year.
