Politicians lobby to appoint new pro-Iran Nineveh governor: Nujaifi
Former Nineveh Governor Atheel al-Nujaifi said that Iran and its agents in the country are trying to make the people believe that there is a conflict between Iraqi politicians concerning the appointment of a new governor for Nineveh governorate.
In statements on Saturday, Nujaifi denied any dispute between the politicians after the sacking of the Nineveh governor who was responsible for the death of more than 100 people when their boat capsized in the Tigers River in Mosul city.
Most of the politicians are not interested in the post in the current phase, he noted, adding that this current delicate period requires an independent administrative figure who is not interested in politics.
He also said that Iran insists on appointing a figure who is close to the mullahs but also a less corrupted figure than the sacked one.
A number of Iraqi politicians and parties are just puppets in the hands of the Iranian regime. This comes within the mullahs' plot to control the Arab country and its people.
