President Salih receives Bahraini ambassador at As-Salam Palace
Iraq's President Barham Salih received on Sunday Ambassador of Bahrain Salah al-Malki at As-Salam Palace after his return from Manama, resuming his work in Baghdad.
According to the presidency statement, Salih confirmed the depth of close and brotherly ties that bring the two countries together. He pointed out the need to develop mechanisms of joint action to meet the challenges and developments and to consolidate the pillars of security and peace at both regional and international levels.
Salih thanked Bahraini King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa for his support for Iraq and his positive treatment of the attack on the Bahraini embassy building in Baghdad that took place late June. He also stressed Iraq’s commitment to protect foreign missions and embassies operating in Iraq and provide a safe environment for them to carry out their duties.
For his part, the Bahraini ambassador affirmed his country's support for Iraq and its unity and sovereignty, as well as its keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and expand the horizons of joint cooperation.
