On Wednesday, October 2, a US Federal Judge, Randolph Moss, dismissed a lawsuit filed against Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, his family, and 63 others, citing insufficient evidence.

Judge Moss ruled that the allegations lacked merit and cautioned the plaintiffs against pursuing baseless claims, warning of severe consequences for further attempts to misuse the judicial process, according to Basnews website, based in Erbil.

The lawsuit, led by an individual with a criminal record in Germany, accused PM Barzani and other officials of misconduct. However, the court determined that there was no substantial evidence to support the accusations. In a firm statement, Judge Moss emphasized that any continued efforts to file unfounded legal actions would result in serious penalties.

The KRG’s legal team in the US described the lawsuit as a politically motivated attempt to influence the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections. They argued that the case was an abuse of the judicial system, aiming to discredit Prime Minister Barzani and the leadership of the Kurdistan Regional Government at a critical time ahead of the elections.
