Shafaq News/ On Monday, Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Finance,Masoud Haider, confirmed that there are no direct interactions between federalinstitutions and the offices of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which exclusivelymanage salaries distribution.

In a statement, Haider clarified that "no federalinstitution can engage directly with the offices of the KRG," adding that “allinteractions with the region are conducted solely through the KRG itself.”

Haider highlighted, "Salaries are paid exclusively bythe Ministry of Finance Kurdistan Region," urging that “sensitive issuessuch as salary disbursement should not be exploited for political purposes, which could further escalate tensions.”

This statement comes amid ongoing debates over therelationship between Iraq’s federal government in Baghdad and the KRG,particularly regarding financial matters and salary payment mechanisms.

Haider’s comments underscore the Iraqi government's intentto de-escalate political disputes by affirming the KRG's financial autonomy andreiterating that federal institutions should not engage directly withKurdistan’s offices.

Notably, problems with salary distribution in the KRG persist. The delay has become a chronic issue, impacting residents' daily lives. Withmany dependent on these salaries for basic needs, frequent delays have led tosignificant psychological and social problems.

In response to the delays, employees increasingly resort toborrowing to cover basic needs, exacerbating their debt and adding social andeconomic pressure on themselves and their families.
