Prime
Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi on Friday said he would submit an official letter to
the House of Representatives requesting his resignation.
Abd al-Mahdi said he listened very carefully to the speech of the Supreme Religious Marja on Friday urging the parliament to convene an urgent meeting to withdraw confidence from the parliament.
He referred to the clear "deficit" of the relevant authorities to deal with the updates in the past two months in a way that ends the bloodshed and save rights.
"In response to this call and to facilitate and accelerate its implementation as soon as possible, I will submit to the Council of Representatives the official letter requesting the resignation of the current government so that the Council can reconsider its options."
