New Saudi consulates to be opened in Iraq soon: Minister

Saudi Arabia has said it will open four new consulates in Iraq, including one in Baghdad, as part of strengthening the bilateral ties.

The remarks were made by the Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment, Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, during his joint press conference on Wednesday with Iraqi Oil Minister Samr Ghazban in Baghdad

"A new Saudi consulate will be opened in Baghdad tomorrow, Thursday, and we will also open three more consulates in the other Iraqi cities in the future," Qasabi said.

A delegation from Saudi Arabia, formed of 115 members, arrived in Iraq on Wednesday, he said adding that this “emphasizes on our determination on strengthening the ties between the two countries in the areas of investment.”

Saudi Arabia has allocated US$1 billion for certain Saudi projects in Iraq, Qasabi said noting that they will start working on Arar border crossing between the two countries.
