To resolve water issues, Turkey appoints new special envoy to Iraq: FM

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an appointed a new special envoy to Iraq to resolve the water sharing issues between the two countries.

Erdo?an said that he would send a special envoy to Iraq to talk with officials and take the necessary steps.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nizar al-Khairallah said the Iraqi government is looking forward for the Turkish envoy’s visit to Baghdad to negotiate the water issue.

Khairallah also pointed out that the water issue is part of Iraq’s national security and a strategic subject that serves the interests of the country.
