MP Hassan al-Aqouli, a member of Saairun's parliamentary bloc disclosed a corruption case concerning a crude oil pipeline, which he says makes Iraq lose "tens of billions of dollars."

The announced cost of a pipeline project transferring crude oil from Basra to Aqaba ranges from $9 to $10 billion, while the actual cost of the project is only $2 billion, Aqouli said.

The project would take 3 to 4 years to be finished, with an export capacity of 900,000 oil barrels per day, which can rise to 2.25 million bpd, Aqouli said, adding that announcing implementing this project over 20 years reveals the corruption.
