First Kurdistan Health Summit kicks off on Saturday

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Erbil will hold the first Kurdistan Health Summit from Saturday to Monday with keynote speakers and expert panels focusing on a range of health issues: including health services, nurses, cancer, healthcare economics, chronic diseases, pharmacy, as well as the role of civic society and academia.

"With the support of Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, the first Kurdistan Health Summit will be held in Erbil at Rotana Hotel starting on Saturday 6 p.m.," said the summit's organizers. He will deliver a keynote speech.


Officials from Iraq and Kurdistan Region will attend the summit. They include Kurdistan Region Parliament Speaker Vala Farid, Kurdistan Regional Government ministers: of health Dr. Rekawt Hama Rasheed, of higher education and scientific research Yousif Goran, of finance Rebaz Hamlan, of municipalities and tourism Newroz Mawlood, and the head of KRG Department of Foreign Relations Falah Mustafa.

- Quality of Health Services

- Role of Nurses in Imaproving Healthcare

- Cancer Control Strategy

- Economics and Financing of Healthcare

- Health Information Management and Research

- Private and Public Relationship

- Primary Healthcare and Chronic Diseases

- Pharmaceutical Industry Management Strategy

- Role of Organizations and Academic Institutions in Health System

- The Impact of the Summit

"A number of local and international organizations, more than 600 local and international physicians, nurses and medical personnel will attend the summit," the statement added.

Some 36 international experts will speak. The attendees will be from Iraq, Turkey, Iran, Jordan, India, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. 

Saturday is an opening ceremony. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and Monday. The closing ceremony will be at 5 p.m.
