Baghdad Chamber of Commerce Chairman Jaafar al-Hamdani said that Jordan is considering an Iraqi request to establish a free investment zone between the two countries.

He added that the current security situation in Iraq significantly encourages the investors to participate in the Iraqi market.

"Iraq comes back to its normal status as an investment arena, which is considered a great achievement after the elimination of terrorism," Hamdani said.

Concerning news about exempting Jordanian cargo from customs duties, Hamdani said, "I have not seen the decision of the Iraqi government, but if this decision is issued, it needs to involve the private sector and [the type of goods] Jordan will export to Iraq and vice versa."

Hamdani reiterated his call to allow Iraqi businessmen to enter Jordan and the rest of the countries without visas in order to learn about the industries and trade in other countries.
