The Iraqi government is more convinced than ever of its vision to develop Iraq's regional and international relations based on a policy of cooperation and mutual interest, adopting the concept of partnership with many countries worldwide, notably France.
The importance of the relationship between Baghdad and Paris has prompted our government to show our determination to develop and commit to our bilateral relations.
When Iraq faced the dangers of terrorism and fought a fateful war against the forces of evil and darkness on behalf of the region and the world, France was one of the first countries to provide assistance. They participated in Iraq's liberation of its territories, particularly the effort to liberate Mosul. In addition, our cooperation in the field of armaments, training, and intelligence indicates a long-term strategic partnership between Baghdad and Paris to ensure that the achievements in the fight against terrorism are sustained, and stability in the region is maintained.
Our country's desire to strengthen its military and security cooperation with France is consistent with our goal of enhancing the combat capabilities of our security forces through the advisory and training role that the International Coalition play now. We continually review the role and relationship with the International Coalition and draw a map for future cooperation in light of the constant development in the readiness and combat capabilities of our armed forces.
Attracting TotalEnergies and Alstom

The advancement of the national economy is one of the top priorities of the Iraqi government. Our administration aims to make optimal use of the substantial economic capabilities that Iraq owns; Iraq is OPEC's second-largest oil producer and has one of the largest oil and gas reserves in the world, and we need to use these capabilities to attract large corporations such as Total Energies and Alstom, welcoming them to work in Iraq in the energy sector on projects such as capturing associated gas and developing renewable energy production, as well as the Baghdad metro project needed to ease the traffic congestion in the capital, and which we attach great importance to. These projects are good examples of opportunities for partnership and economic cooperation.
Our government intends to be a significant driving force in regional diplomacy, and this was clearly reflected in the Baghdad 2 Conference held with the support of President Macron recently in the Jordanian capital, Amman, as we were keen to emphasize Iraq's refusal to use its land to threaten neighboring countries, while at the same time rejecting violations on our sovereignty.
