A Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) security official was killed in Sulaymaniyah province on Wednesday, along with several others injured, in two separate attacks carried out by Turkish drones, according to a statement.

The Kurdistan Region Counter-Terrorism Unit confirmed that a PKK intelligence official lost his life and two others were injured when a Turkish drone targeted a vehicle of PKK fighters near the village of Galala in Mawat district of Sulaymaniyah province.

Additionally, a PKK fighter was killed and two others were wounded in a drone attack on a vehicle near the village of Qalat in Khalkani district of Sulaymaniyah province at 15:30 pm (Erbil Time).

Dukan Mayor Sirwan Sarhad told BasNews earlier that “two people were injured, one from Syria and the other from Halabja, due to the drone bombing of a car between Khalkan and Dukan.”

The PKK is considered a "terrorist organization" by Turkey and is active in various areas of Sulaymaniyah province. Ankara has repeatedly expressed concerns about the armed group's presence in the region, leading to measures such as the suspension of flights to and from Sulaymaniyah International Airport.

The Turkish military has regularly targeted PKK members and positions in Sulaymaniyah, raising concerns for civilian safety. A Turkish airstrike in Chamchamal district recently resulted in the death of a PKK leader and the injury of another fighter.
