Shafaq News/ President Nechirvan Barzani said that the Kurdistan region seeks to broaden areas of cooperation with China as he received the newly appointed Chinese Consul General, Liu Jiun, earlier today, Tuesday.

President Barzani, according to a readout issued by his bureau, wished the diplomat success in his tenure, promising him full support to achieve the objectives of his mission.

Barzani and his guest discussed the ties of the People's Republic of China with Iraq and the Kurdistan region, and expressed mutual readiness and desire to strengthen and expand those relations.

The Chinese Consul General unveiled new plans for the consulate, including the establishment of a visa service department and the construction of a consulate building in Erbil.

The meeting touched upon the latest developments in the region and a spectrum of issues of mutual interest.
