Chairman of Iraq’s Integrity Commission dies in car accident in Duhok

(Hatha al-Youm | Iraq News)- The Commission praised Jaafar’s “dedication in carrying out his duties to the nation. He never wasted a minute and was always keen to carry out the tasks entrusted to the organization with wisdom and knowledge,” the Commission added.

Jaafar was a Kurd, born in 1970 in the city of Mosul. He is survived by his wife and six children.

In 2009, he was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Commission of Integrity. On July 5, 2018, he was promoted to Chairman of the Commission.

Car accidents in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are one of the most common causes of deaths and injuries in the region. Over the past decade, nearly 23,000 people have died as a result of collisions and crashes across Iraq, according to the Health Ministry.

“In the past ten years, 66,000 car accidents took place in Iraq, in which 22,952 people have been killed and 79,000 more wounded,” The ministry previously stated.
