ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – At least six Iraqis were killed and 12 more wounded on Sunday in separate attacks that took place in the south of Mosul city, security said.

In one attack, a roadside bomb hit a bus with police on board near the town of Shirqat killing two and wounding eight, a security source in the area told Kurdistan 24.

The second bomb detonated when a group of officers went to the site of the first explosion, killing two and injuring four more, the source added, suggesting the Islamic State most likely carried out the bombing.

In another attack, gunmen dressed in military uniforms and stormed a house in the village of al-Nadas in al-Shura town, south Mosul.

“They killed a man and his wife by shooting them,” the source stated.

No group has claimed immediate responsibility for the attacks, but they are similar to previous ones the Islamic State has carried out in the country.

Although Iraq declared victory against the Islamic State in December 2017, the extremist group continues to launch insurgency attacks, ambushes, and kidnappings in several provinces, including Kirkuk, Nineveh, Anbar, Salahuddin, and Diyala.
