Christians all over the Middle East celebrated Easter and Palm Sunday each according to the Gregorian and/or Eastern calendar.

Celebrations have been taking place in different cities from Jerusalem, to Mosul, Amman, Damascus and Cairo.

Several photos were shared on the social media for special celebrations that took place in Iraqi cities including Mosul, that had its churches destroyed by the ISIS terror group in the past years.

Photos from the city of Baghdida or Qaraqosh, near Mosul in Iraq, showed Christians celebrating Easter as they returned to their city after years of carnage and displacement.

In Jerusalem, thousands from all over the world gathered at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem’s Old City on Saturday celebrating Easter. Photos showed worshippers from the location of the tomb believed to be that of Jesus Christ.

Yet, among pilgrims who had the chance to celebrate in the holy city were a few privileged Palestinian Christians from East Jerusalem and Israel, with the rest were denied permits that allow them to enter the Holy City.

Other photos were also shared from Egypt for the Coptic community celebrating Palm Sunday.

Translation: “Palm Sunday celebrations. To brothers, friends and all beloved ones, best wishes and may you celebrate it every year in peace, security and joy.”
