Washington says will not help Gaza as long as Hamas is ruling
The United States has said the situation in Gaza cannot be resolved, adding that it cannot help the residents so long as Hamas movement resumes its terrorism.
The remarks were made by Rodney Hunter, Political Coordinator U.S. Mission to the United Nations, during the Security Council Open Debate on the Middle East on Monday.
“The road to stability in the Middle East will be paved by regional cooperation on many levels, and water and energy security are certainly essential for peace in the region,” Hunter said.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, he added that “the future of Gaza cannot be addressed, and the people of Gaza cannot be helped, in any meaningful way until Hamas is no longer in the picture or makes the necessary choices for stability and, eventually, peace.”
Before the session started, Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon said the US administration will propose its peace plan within the coming weeks.
In remarks to reporters, he indicated readiness to negotiate on the plan, unlike the Palestinians who had stance against it before knowing it.
